CHS, LT III
Orientation of newly qualified doctors at LT III.
Newly qualified Medical Officer Interns from the University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences were taken through orientation to good clinical practices on 19th November, 2015.
The 2-hour session which was held at CHS’ Lecture Theater 3 was meant to equip the new doctors with relevant information in the medical field as they start their career journey.
During the session, the new doctors were addressed by Prof. Grace Irimu, a senior lecturer at CHS’ Department of Paediatrics & Child Health.
Prof. Irimu emphasized on the need to improve poor documentation practices, which she said has been a major challenge to routine evaluation of clinical practices in the country.
According to her, this has also affected data on mortality and mobidity, and thus limiting the use of hospital data in informing and evaluating quality initiatives.
She said the documentation should be improved to help in the evaluation of the quality of medical services offered to clients.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Kenya Paediatric Association and KEMRI Welcome Trust.
